Making a brave leap in 2008, Cathy Mei left her home country to make a new life for herself and her family in New Zealand. Bringing invaluable planning, problem solving and communication skills gained during six years as a maths teacher in China, she began to diversify her knowledge base immediately. A speaker of three languages; English, Cantonese and Mandarin, she enrolled in a Graduate Certificate TESOL (Teaching English To Speakers Of Other Languages) which she gained with Merit, going on to attain her Graduate Diploma in the same programme.
Cathy also excelled in a range of sales, marketing and customer service positions, including student advisor, administration assistant and sales support in two large reputable organisations. Recognized as a ‘Top Five Direct Marketer’ nationwide while working at HRV North Shore, she has a reputation for building strong relationships with people from various backgrounds, consistently receiving great feedback from clients and managers alike.
In July 2015, Cathy joined Ray White Takanini as a Personal Assistant to a senior salesperson. A naturally fast learner, Cathy relished working under a strong mentor, and realised that she had potential to carve out a rewarding career in real estate. Sitting her papers in January of 2016, she has sold 20 properties in the first half, winning awards for ‘New Start’ and ‘Business Growth’ for Ray White Takanini. Her result also put her amongst the top 202 salespeople for Ray White nationwide.
Cathy puts her success down to honesty, genuine enthusiasm and love of meeting new people. She works extremely hard and believes that “If I give my best, anything is possible.” Understanding the degree of trust that people put in her as an advisor, Cathy always gives 100% and is very focused on achieving the best results for her clients. Her excellent understanding of both New Zealand and Asian cultures facilitates easy relationships between many different parties.
Overall, Cathy is most grateful to her family and colleagues for their presence and support. She is friendly, fun loving, and enjoys a good laugh, spending time with her loved ones and helping people wherever she can.
